Account Creation
Create an Atria account to start attending events, networking with other attendees, and building your professional connections.
Overview
Account creation is a simple two-step process:
- Fill out the registration form
- Verify your email address
After creating your account:
- You'll receive a verification email
- Click the link to activate your account (valid for 24 hours)
- Log in to start using Atria
Creating Your Account
How to Sign Up
- Navigate to the Atria homepage
- Click Sign up
- The signup modal opens
Registration Form
Fill in the following information:
First Name (Required)
- Your first name
- Minimum 1 character
Last Name (Required)
- Your last name
- Minimum 1 character
Email (Required)
- Your email address
- Must be a valid email format
- Used for login and notifications
- Example: john.doe@example.com
Password (Required)
- Create a secure password
- Minimum 8 characters
- Should include uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and special characters for security
Confirm Password (Required)
- Re-enter your password to confirm
- Must match your password exactly
Creating Your Account
- Fill in all required fields
- Click Sign up
- The button shows "Creating account..." while processing
- If successful, you'll see the email verification screen
Email Verification
Verification Required
After creating your account, you must verify your email before you can log in.
What happens:
- You see a "Check Your Email" confirmation screen
- A verification email is sent to the address you provided
- The email contains a verification link
- Click the link to activate your account
Verification details:
- Link expires in 24 hours
- If the link expires, your unverified account remains in the system but you cannot log in
- You'll need to create a new account with a different email address (or contact support to help with the existing email)
- You cannot log in until your email is verified
Email Verification Screen
After signing up, you'll see:
"Check Your Email"
- Message: "We've sent a verification email to [your email]"
- Instructions: "Please check your inbox and click the verification link to activate your account. The link will expire in 24 hours."
- Reminder: "Didn't receive the email? Check your spam folder or contact support."
Verifying Your Email
- Open your email inbox
- Look for an email from Atria (check spam/junk if not in inbox)
- Click the verification link in the email
- Your account is activated
- Return to Atria and log in
If you don't see the verification email within a few minutes, check your spam or junk folder. Email filters sometimes incorrectly flag verification emails.
After Verification
Once your email is verified:
- Log in to your account
- Complete your profile - Add your bio, job title, company, and social links
- Set privacy preferences - Control who can see your information
- Join or create events - Start networking and attending events
Common Scenarios
Scenario 1: Creating Your First Account
Goal: Set up a new Atria account
Steps:
- Click "Sign up" on the homepage
- Enter first name, last name, email, and password
- Confirm your password
- Click "Sign up"
- Check your email for the verification link
- Click the verification link
- Return to Atria and log in
- Complete your profile
Scenario 2: Didn't Receive Verification Email
Goal: Get the verification email
Steps:
- Wait a few minutes (email can take time to arrive)
- Check your spam/junk folder
- Check that you entered the correct email address
- If still no email, contact support for help
Scenario 3: Verification Link Expired
Goal: Activate your account after the 24-hour window
Issue: The verification link expires after 24 hours
What happens:
- Your account remains in the system as unverified
- You cannot log in until email is verified
- The verification link no longer works
Solution:
- Create a new account with a different email address
- Or contact support if you want to use the same email address
- A resend verification feature may be added in a future update
Troubleshooting
Email Already in Use
Problem: Error message "Email already in use"
Solutions:
- You already have an account with this email
- Use the "Log in" option instead
- If you forgot your password, click "Forgot password?"
- Use a different email address if you want a new account
Passwords Don't Match
Problem: "Passwords don't match" error on confirm password field
Solutions:
- Make sure both password fields have exactly the same text
- Check for extra spaces
- Check Caps Lock isn't on
- Re-type both password fields
Validation Errors
Problem: Form won't submit or shows field errors
Solutions:
- Make sure all required fields are filled
- Check that email is in correct format (name@domain.com)
- Password must be at least 8 characters
- All fields meet the requirements listed above
Can't Log In After Creating Account
Problem: Login fails with "Please verify your email before logging in"
Solutions:
- You must verify your email first
- Check your inbox for the verification email
- Click the verification link in the email
- Then try logging in again
Best Practices
Choosing a Strong Password
Do:
- Use at least 8 characters (longer is better)
- Include uppercase letters (A-Z)
- Include lowercase letters (a-z)
- Include numbers (0-9)
- Include special characters (!@#$%^&*)
- Use a unique password you don't use elsewhere
- Consider using a password manager
Don't:
- Use personal information (birthday, name, etc.)
- Use common passwords (password123, etc.)
- Use the same password as other accounts
- Share your password with anyone
Email Address
Tips:
- Use an email address you check regularly
- Make sure you have access to this email account
- Add noreply@atria.com or support@atria.com to your contacts to avoid spam filtering
- Keep your email secure - it's used for account recovery
